Lessons from Fenty Beauty and Celebrity Brands

Celebrity endorsement and influence is a big deal

If you’ve read my post on celebrity endorsement, then you already know some of my opinion about celebrities endorsing campaigns.

It’s always lovely when a celebrity can endorse your brand, product or service. And it’s pretty mammoth if it’s a celebrity’s brand that is being launched.

Ok so I had no idea that so many celebrities have beauty brands. I’m not a regular make up wearer myself but dabble in a bit of blusher, mascara and lip gloss. So when I learned of Riri’s foundation being available in 40 shades, skinsticks in 30 shades, “made for you” I was intrigued.

I recall the hype around Beyonce’s Ivy Park and who remembers Bey’s House of Dereon ? But never before have I seen such a huge amount of media interest (that has made me pay attention) where a celebrities brand is concerned. Maybe it’s because I like a bit of Riri?

So the world has been introduced to Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty. If you didn’t know, where have you been hiding? With Riri’s 57million followers, it’s no surprise that the hype she built around her online and offline promotion was going to be a phenomenal success.

Oh and perfect timing….The Independent revealed recently, she’s just announced a special range for Christmas – her marketing team are 5* in my opinion. They certainly have other brands like Kylie Cosmetics, Lancome, L’Oreal , Estee Lauder and Make Up For Ever ramping up their marketing activity.

Well, I didn’t see this coming. And Rihanna has certainly done things right with the PR and promotion too in my opinion. Well, she must be doing something right as other beauty brands are now investing even more in their online strategy and stepping up their email marketing, online advertising and social media tactics!
